About

I'm a boy - Australian '85 model to be exact. I am in my last year of a Bachelor of Information & Communication Technology, majoring in Business Information Systems at the University of Wollongong and can't wait to be finished. For a crust, I'm an IBM intern - working in the test team of IBM WebSphere Portal Web Content Management, based in the city (Sydney). As well as the work I do at IBM, I also run my own web development business; Den Solutions.

I love everything to do with technology and am a stereotypical early adopter. I am always interested in new projects and ideas, and have recently taken a keen interest in social networking. PHP is my favourite language to develop in. I have recently learnt the principles of MVC, but am yet to implement it in a project. I know Java well, .NET a very minimal amount, C++ not at all and am groing in confidence at punching out a bit of python. Next on the 'to learn' list are Perl and Objective C - yes, I have an iPhone and I want to be able to write apps for it. I have done quite a lot of work with MySQL, espcially database and query design.

As well as technology, I absolutely love sport. I play indoor cricket, and am giving outdoor a miss for a few seasons. I play indoor soccer as well and am hoping to make a return to the outdoor arena next year. I love to watch cricket on tv and live. I cheer the Swans, but wouldn't call myself a big fan; I'm happy to see the Waratahs win, but I don't go and watch them play; I don't really support any rugby league team since the Steelers left, though I'm a Shire boy now, so cheer the Sharks by default.

    IBM Test Dashboard

This is a dashboard I took over in my job at IBM. It is a dashboard that monitors our teams test servers. A shell script is installed on each server at the time of install that updates a bunch of the server info into a Derby Database that is used to hold the data for the dashboard. I added a lot of functionality and usability through javascript and AJAX.
